The Annual Dinner Meeting will take place at the Historic Hawthorne Hotel. It will begin at 5:30 P.M. with a social hour/cash bar, hors d’ouevres and a buffet dinner served at 6:30 P.M. Pluralism. Intolerance and the Quran, Ali S. Asani Professor of Indo-Muslim and Islamic Religion and Cultures. With over 1 billion adherents worldwide, Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. Although global in its scope, Islam has been strongly influenced by the many contexts in which it is practiced. This presentation will provide a framework within which to understand the complex and contradictory ways in which interpretations of Islam's scripture, the Quran, are tied to the historical, political, economic, social and cultural contexts in which Muslims live. All Harvard affiliated persons and guests are welcomed.
