The Opioid Crisis

A public service presentation on a health crisis which is challenging New England and our country, featuring speakers from Lahey Health Behavioral Services.

SIGN UP for this discussion on the opioid crisis.  Deaths caused by overdoses of opioids and other drugs have skyrocketed in recent years, and are one of the leading causes of preventable death in the U.S.  Many of us read about this in the newspapers every day, and listen to presidential candidates discuss it.  Too many of us have direct experience of this crisis with our families, friends, and communities on the North Shore.  On April 27th we will host a discussion about what is happening, why it is happening, and what we can do about it.  The discussion will include facts about the current situation, and what it means to treat drug addiction as a Public Health Issue as opposed to a Criminal Justice issue.

Our speakers are from Lahey Health Behavioral Services (LHBS), and have over 60 years of combined leadership and experience in the field of drug and alcohol treatment:

Kevin Norton is CEO of LHBS, and has been working in the treatment field, on the North Shore, for over 20 years.  Kevin has served on various regional and national advocacy, trade and advisory committees, including the National Advocacy Committee of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  Kevin has recently been named Regional Director of the National Council for Behavioral Health.

Hilary Jacobs is Vice President of Addiction Treatment Services at LHBS.  Hilary was previously the Director of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS),  She has also been a teaching associate at The Harvard Medical School at Cambridge Hospital.

Vincent Martelli is Chair of the Board of Trustees at LHBS, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Harvard Club of the North Shore.
